For everyone who attended and sold tickets to the McDonald's Hotcake Dinner on October 29th, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. It was a wonderful evening of great community spirit! The Marching Band and Color Guard proved to us that all those early morning practice do pay off! The band made a profit of $1,000.00 that evening. A GREAT BIG THANK YOU to McDonald's and their super crew! They made it look so easy and kept the hotcakes coming!

Mark your calendars for
November 11, 1998. This will be your first opportunity to see the SMS Marching Band and Color Guard marching the streets of downtown Memphis. RECYCLE FOR THE BAND AND THE EARTH
Want to get rid of your aluminum cans and help the band? Drop them in the orange trailer in the teacher's parking lot behind the school the first Tuesday morning of every month. Jennifer Nolte is volunteering to take them to be recycled and the money earned will go to the band. A full black trash bag yields about $1.50. So help the earth and help the band!! Pick up Dates: November 3, December 1, and January 5. Our first trip in October yielded $40.00 to the band. We are hoping to do lots better..remember to bring in your cans, your neighbors cans, cans from work, just bring them in by 9:00 AM the day of pick up. THANK YOU!!

UNIFORM UPDATE
We are still awaiting the arrival of the pants. And though they were promised for the end of October, they still have not arrived but we are hopeful that this week will bring us the long awaited arrival. If you can sew let Mr. Bell or Vicki Czyrnik know. We are going to need as many hands as possible to get them hemmed and ready to go.

PIZZA PRO
If you have the desire to have pizza, save it for a Monday or Tuesday night. Pizza Pro will donate $1.00 for every medium pizza ordered and $2.00 for every large pizza ordered on Monday or Tuesday night. You need to write on a slip a paper that you are with Southwind Middle Band, the student's name, homeroom, purchaser's name, date, how many large or medium pizzas you ordered.
